Hello dear people.
Forgive me for my lack of blogging. From preparing for the move to NY, to searching for housing, to finding meaningful (and not so meaningful) work opportunities, I've been sidetracked. However, there's always children's poetry news to report!
My poem "Sack Lunch" appeared in THE UTAH JOURNAL OF LITERACY as part of an article called "Making Time for Poetry and Conncecting to Common Core Standards" by Sylvia Vardell and Janet Wong. You can find the link here: http://utahreading.org/index.php?page=making-time-for-poetry-and-connecting-with-common-core-standards
Also, I have 2 poems that appeared in a website called www.getsparked.org.
This is where writers, photographers, illustrators and painters exchange each others work and create their own pieces about it. I was paired up with Diane Mayr and Jane Hulstrunk on 2 different pieces. You can find them here: http://www.getsparked.org/spark22/diane-mayr-and-charles-waters
As I catch up on rewriting children's poems and going back to manuscripts I leave you with a new poem, wishing you a heartfelt "see you next time."
DREAMTIME BOULEVARD
Nestling under my ocean colored blanket
I sing myself toward Dreamtime Boulevard
As Rain drums its pitter pat melody
And wind chimes ring their closing number –
I arrive safely at my destination.
